Introduction

Sitting almost on the Polish boarder, in the Tatras Mountains, is the small resort of Tatranska Lomnica. Great for a day trip from Zakopane, Poland, or for a few days in its own right.  Tatranska Lomnica boasts a maximum height of 2640meters, which is a bit of a blag, as there’s no runs from the cable cars summit. In fact the chair, to its right, takes you to the top of its highest run at 2190 meters. The lift system is modern apart from the only chair which is a bit of a leg slaper. There’s not much of a town it’s just a few hotels, with a restaurant and a few shops at the base station. If you want a bit more life then stay in the small resort of Stary Smokovec, 7km down the road.  The gondola takes you through dense forest and out above the tree line, to where you can either board down a red and onto a blue back to the base station, or take a short chair lift up to a steep and often icy black run.
