Kranjska Gora, Slovenia
Introduction
Flash as, riders who think Slovenia is some back arsed eastern European hole should dig out an atlas and take a closer look. Kranjska Gora is flash both on and off the slopes; five star hotels and a casino are right next to the brand new chair lifts in this former part of the old Yugoslavia. The thing which lets down the resort is the terrain. It’s all very similar, with almost all the pistes being of the same length and the same pitch. Unfortunately, for Kranjska Gora, the piste lengths are to short for all but the beginner or rider in their first few weeks, with you returning to the same lift in only a couple of minute’s tops. The pistes are very well groomed and some are opened for night boarding which is good for a laugh. The resort lacks any real freestyle terrain and off piste riding but all that said it’s really cheap and offers western facilities with almost eastern prices and a fantastic back droop of the Julian Alps. If only some one would cut down a few more trees as a snow clad forest towers above the lift system.Resort Statistics
