Not worth the effort
Fri 29 December 2006 Butchie
I rode Snowshoe for 3 days. Its a 4-5 hour drive from civilization so its no easier to get to even if you are in the Mid-Atlantic already. The resort its self is nice enough and very friendly but not very exciting.
Now the important part: the riding.
Upfront I have to say that I was there early in the season (New Year's weekend) but the conditions were sub-standard. There was very little natural cover (and inch or two) and the runs were not challenging at all. The so-called black diamonds that were open had about 2 turns worth of bumps on a not to steep hill and might not even qualify as blues in the Rockies. The terrain park was a joke, 2 kickers and 2 rails real crowded. Speaking of crowded (and I admit I was there on a holiday weekend) the lifts were awful as well. There was only one quad and the line for it backed up halfway to the top. Although considering how short the runs were that ain't sayin' much. The lines for the trebles were a little better but rideing them was a slow torture.
All considered even if you are in the East and looking to save money don't waste your time with this place spend a little more and fly up to New England.
