Jackson Hole, USA
Freeriding
Freeriders should love it on Jackson's slopes, with a host of marked out trails and acres of backcountry terrain to explore in areas such as the Green River Bowl or Cody Bowl. Backcountry guides are on hand to help you, and you can sign up for half day, full, or two day guiding sessions for around $325. But note that you are strongly advised to always check with the areas Bridger-Teton Backcountry avalanche hazard and weather forecast before going anywhere.
Some of the best riding can be found on Rendezvous mountain which was once noted for having the biggest vertical descent in the US, some 1261 metres. Once you get off Rendezvous' old tram, you drop down into a cool playground, offering a great selection of chutes, jumps and big drop-ins, Jackson also features Corbett's Couloir, a famous vertical drop into a marked run that will leave you breathless.
Freestylers
Freestylers will certainly appreciate Jackson. From the Thunder Chair you will be able to reach a natural pipe. The Paintbrush and Toilet Bowl also offer loads of hits, where you can ride for hours off and over loads of good natural stuff. If this isn’t enough, then check out the man-made park at the bottom of the of Apres Vous chair. There’s also a beginners area the Eagle’s Rest mini terrain park along with a 450ft pipe with a rope tow and sound systemPistes
pistes. People who want to push it should check out Gros Venture as this is the place for experienced speed merchants. The run is over 3 km long and drops away, forming an excellent testing trail Intermediates (and those not so sure of themselves) should try out Casper Bowl or Moran Face on Apres Vous Mountain.
Beginners
Beginners will find Jackson's mostly steep and testing terrain a bit daunting, but don't fret, most novices should manage to get around after a few days, although they should probably avoid the Rendezvous area. First timers have the chance to progress quickly, especially on the runs found at the bottom of Apres Vous mountain, reached off the Teewinot chair. A high level of instruction is available including halfpipe training run camps for women.Resort Statistics
