Michael joined the team in November 2011 as a sub-editor
He lives in Wakefield West Yorkshire, and spends his time snowboarding the local dome and longboarding the local hills.
Michael first tried snowboarding at Sheffield Ski Village but did not get the bug fully till a few years later when Castleford Xscape opened on his doorstep. A frantic few weeks followed learning the basics and getting told to redo lesson three before heading to Les Deux Alpes for his first trip to the white stuff.
After a slow start slide slipping the Les Deux Alpes glacier (Not Recommended!) many more tips were organized. Including return trips to France and new trips to Slovakia, Slovenia, Bulgaria and this year Austria. So far the resorts he has ridden include Les Deux Alpes, Alpe D’Huez, Valmorel, Jasna, Donovaly, strebske Pleso and Borovets. This seasons plans involve a first trip to Austria to snowboard the Ski Amade region where he is sure to be taking part in the Apre Ski.
“I love getting out there every winter! When the UK seems to go into a post Christmas depressions we all start grinning madly just counting down the days. Safe in the knowledge we will be charging the pistes, trying new trick and knocking back the beers while everyone else is moaning about the weather back home. The feeling of getting back in the mountains is amazing it takes all of five minutes to forget about everything else and concentrate on making those turns.!”
Michael has background in web content production and started work on the World Snowboard Guide in November 2011. A a video feature on the telegraph Ski and Board show 2011 quickly followed and he has not looked back since.
