Peter Coombs is a long term member of the WSG team, as well as being a freelance Travel Writer and Mountain Guide. Pete joined Steve to work on the last three WSG guides and has now taken a back seat to spend time with his family.
Before joining the WSG team Pete worked as a snowboard instructor and lead small group adventure holidays in the summer months. One summer he climbed Kilimanjaro 9 times in 12 weeks, before spending a month recovering on Zanzibar. He’s worked predominantly in Africa but has also lead expeditions in; Central Asia, Tibet, USA, China, the Middle East and Europe. Ethiopia is his favourite destination, as the coffee is the best on the planet and the Simien Mountains are a truly special place.
Together with snowboarding Peter loves adventure travel and can list among his personal achievements; climbing Cotopaxi in Ecuador, snowboarding down Jebel Toubkal, Morocco on the first day of the millennium, trekking across Ammassalik Island in Greenland and horse riding across Kyrgyzstan with local nomads.
As well as writing for WSG, Peter has written for Ski + Board Mag, Adventure Travel Mag, Active Snow, Scotland on Sunday, Daily Star and has contributed to the Observer and GQ.
Peter now lives in London, but still fits in as many out of the way resort visits for us as he can. Iran and Nepal are next on his snowboarding wish list.
