Parklife Invitational comes to Queenstown!
Riders and skiers will be out in force for The Parklife Invitational, run by The Remarkables ski area. The event has cemented itself as one of Queenstown’s major downtown winter events in the 10 years since it began.
The event draws top freestyle skiers and boarders from around New Zealand pushing it as far as they can to grab a podium position in front of an enthusiastic audience.
Ross Lawrence, The Remarkables ski area manager, says the logistics are tough but well worth the effort. “We move everything down from the ski area, including the rails, and the snow and set up a specially designed set of rails for one night of awesome action”. He said. “This year the rec ground will give us much more space, so we can make the rails longer and give the spectators more to watch. There will also be Music and DJs thanks to World Bar who are bringing the DJs from around NZ to ramp up the competitors and the audience”.
The main event follows the format of previous years, though it will start earlier so families can enjoy the atmosphere in the relaxed surroundings. A bigger area for food and drink will be available and an expo area where spectators will be able to check out sponsor and Parklife product.
“We’re really excited about the event this year. Ross said. It showcases Queenstown as the premier Snowsports resort, and is a great drawcard for the region – bringing the top riders and skiers to street level really shows what our ski areas are all about”.
