Fresh snowfall in the Italian Dolomites has meant the rare bonus of summer skiing in Cortina d’Ampezzo – with the prospect of slopes remaining open as long as conditions allow.
Hundreds of people took to the slopes in the Tofana region of the resort at the weekend (29/30 June) and enjoyed superb skiing and boarding.
A late start to summer after an unusually wet and cold spring, with fresh snowfall at altitude last week, has led to this rare occurrence.
“Many skiers took the opportunity to hit the slopes where they found exceptional conditions,” said Marianne Moretti of Cortina Turismo. “The lifts will remain open for as long conditions allow.”
