Billy Morgan in L.A. for Air+Style
The GB Park and Pipe Halfpipe skiers are in PyeongChang this week for the Olympic Ski Halfpipe test event
With only six skiers going through to finals in the Ladies event, the British girls just missed out with Rowan Cheshire finishing in an excellent 9th place and Molly Summerhayes in 16th. In the men’s event, young gun Alexander Glavatsky-Yeadon put in a great performance to finish in 20th. Murray Buchan finished in 25th place overall and after showing impressive form in training, a hand down cost Pete Speight valuable marks, with him finishing in 29th position.
Billy Morgan is in Los Angeles for this weekend’s Air + Style event. The Big Air event kicks off on Saturday with qualification and finals on Sunday.
Today we see GB Park and Pipe Pathway athletes Glen Ironside, Gabriel Adams and Ethan Smith competing at the Big Air Europa Cup in Groetschen.
Erzurum 2017 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival
At the Erzurum 2017 European Youth Olympic Winter Festival, Snowboard Cross athlete Ellie Soutter won Team GB’s first medal of the event, claiming a Bronze medal on Wednesday. Teammate Maisie Hill finished just behind her in 5th overall after winning the B final.
“I don’t think it’s quite sunk in yet,” said Soutter, “I’m a little bit emotional. I cried as I crossed the line. I was just so emotional as it hasn’t been the best season for me and it’s finally on the way up.”
In the Alpine races, Angus Wills clocked the best of the Alpine results so far, finishing 9th in the Boys GS. In the Girls GS Abi Bruce finished in 26th and Olivia Ward just behind her in 28th, unfortunately Alicja Krahelski DNF’d in the first run. Krahelski put this behind her and in the Slalom finished an excellent 16thplace with Abi Bruce in 23rd and Olivia Ward in 28th. Yesterday in the Boy’s Slalom Ryan Brown finished in 17th place after the two runs whilst Angus Wills did not race. Today rounds off the Alpine competition in Erzurum with the Team Parallel Slalom. Great Britain made it through to the quarter finals, but were then unfortunately knocked out by Russia.
