Registrations have now opened for the Lecht Winter Games, a two-day celebration of snowsports at Scottish resort Lecht 2090, presented by British Ski & Snowboard together with Snowsport Scotland and Snowsport England.

Taking place on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 February, Lecht 2090 will be using the pioneering technology from TechnoAlpin snowfactory, that will guarantee snow on certain slopes.

By registering in advance you will not only be able to purchase a discounted ticket on the day, but you can also reserve your place for relevant sessions which are limited to a certain number of participants. Those who register will receive a discounted ticket; adults £20 (usually £30) and children/junior £10 (usually £20), plus the first 100 people to sign up will get a Bawbags Neckwarmer.

The Lecht Winter Games has something for everyone, no matter what age or ability, focusing on giving snow-lovers a chance to see and try the various snowsports disciplines. Some sessions need to be booked in advance, while there will be other ‘Come & Try’ sessions on each day which are free and open to everyone.  There will also be demonstrations from some of the best up-and-coming youngsters in Nordic skiing and Park & Pipe freestyle skiers and snowboarders plus taster lessons for new skiers and snowboarders and the launch of the Futures Snow Awards.

Snowboard Cross and Ski Cross - coaching advice from Snowsport Scotland and G*Snow.
Freestyle skiing and snowboarding - park & pipe jumps, rails and an airbag will be available to try with coaching from Aberdeen Snowsports and Cairngorm Snowboard Club
Alpine Skiing - timed Giant Slalom course with tips from Gordon Skiers and kit from Atomic

These free Come & Try Sessions will take place at 10am-12pm and 1-3pm on both days.


> Burton ‘Riglet’ snowboard sessions – Boarderline will be running 30-minute sessions taking place between 10am and 12pm each day for kids aged 2-5.  Riglet sessions are a great way for families to get a taste of snowboarding. Places are limited and sessions must be booked in advance. Click here to book.

> Nordic Skiing – these sessions are free with no need for a lift ticket to be purchased. All equipment and coaching is provided during an hour-long session in a group of 10. Those taking part should wear waterproof clothing, gloves and a hat. The fastest junior (under 18) and fastest adult on the Nordic track over the weekend will win a two-hour surf lesson from North East surf school Scot Surf, valued at £35 each. Click here to book.


If you haven't tried skiing or snowboarding before then sign up for a 2-hour taster lessons with the Lecht Ski School. Bookings are essential – click here to email and reserve your place by Monday 12 February. Participants should wear waterproof clothing, gloves and a hat. 

Adults £55, Children £45, Juniors £50 – payment is taken on the day and includes equipment hire and lift ticket.


The Futures Snow Award is being launched at the Lecht Winter Games, kids aged 5-12 can be the very first to achieve the Step 1 Award by signing up and taking part. The day-long course is completely free but is limited to 20 children each day.

Participants will be taken through 10 off-snow tricks and 10 on-snow tricks with qualified coaching staff, and when completed, they will be presented with their Futures Snow Award Step 1 badge.

Those taking part must be able to easily control their speed, carry out turns and safely stop.

Park & Pipe – The GB Park & Pipe development team will be training on the airbag and the freestyle park over the weekend with demonstrations on the airbag taking place each day at 11:30am and 2pm.

Following the demonstrations, the airbag will be open to the public from 1pm-2pm and 3pm-4pm. Anyone wanting to use the airbag must have a certain level of competence and sign a disclaimer at the info desk.

Cross Country Skiing – On Sunday the British Nordic Development Squad and Huntly Nordic Ski Club JDS will showcase their cross country skiing with kids aged 8-16 training on the Nordic track from 10am-onwards. Cross Country Ski equipment will also be available to borrow at the Nordic track throughout Saturday and Sunday.



Lecht 2090 not only offers great access with the beginners and kids slopes being next to the car park, but spectators will also be able to enjoy the Lecht Winter Games from the lodge.  Get inside and you’ll be able to sample local produce and check out the offerings from Gordon Castle Scotland, Royal Lochnagar Distillery and Cairngorm Brewery.

Protect Our Winters will be presenting information on climate change relevant to the winter sports community, and from 4pm-7pm on Saturday there will on live music, glu¨hwein and more food available in the upstairs bar. 

NOTE: Lecht 2090 has ski and snowboard equipment available to hire but most of it may be reserved for those having lessons. Please consider hiring your kit from other locations in case supplies at the Lecht become booked out. Boarderline shop at the Lecht also have a small amount of outerwear/snow clothing that can be rented.  Please email Boarderline to reserve items in advance.
