Mt Buller Welcomes a Big Dump
Mt Buller has welcomed a fresh dump of snow with 20cms falling across the resort overnight and temperatures dropping to minus 3.1 degrees (as of 7.00am Thursday morning 8/8/13).
Mt Buller already boasts a natural snow base of more than half a metre, with up to 75cm in snowmaking areas and this is set to improve with the Bureau of Meteorology forecasting snowfalls through till Wednesday next week.
Recent snowfalls have allowed Mt Buller to open 15 of its 22 lifts with more expected to open leading into the weekend, plus two of its terrain parks and two snow play parks open for guests.
General Manager of Buller Ski Lifts Laurie Blampied said today that Mt Buller was looking forward to a big August and September.
“This is what it is all about, plenty of fresh snow and smiling faces around the resort. This is as good as we have seen conditions this year and looking at the forecast, it is only going to get better next week. We anticipate opening even more terrain by the weekend and we are really excited about a big couple of months ahead for Mt Buller,” Blampied said.
With more terrain opening in the coming days, Mt Buller is the perfect destination for a day trip or extended snowy break. Just three hours from Melbourne, Mt Buller is the most accessible major snow resort in Australia with over 300 hectares of skiable terrain, more lifts, more runs and more accommodation options than any other Victorian snow resort.
