Mt. Norquay Officially Kicks Off Canada’s Season!
The local’s favourite that packs a punch, the Mighty Mt. Norquay will charge ahead to claim the title of first resort in Western Canada to open for the 2013-14 ski season!
Earlier this week, Mother Nature brought a snowstorm to Banff-Lake Louise and its three ski resorts, allowing Mt. Norquay to lead the pack in turning those chairs and opening its terrain to skiers and boarders. “We’ve enjoyed a beautiful fall, which gave us a good window to install our Via Ferrata (coming June, 2014), but the minute the snow started to fall last Sunday, we knew it was time to shift our focus on bringing winter fun back to all families for the season” said Mt. Norquay GM, Andre Quenneville.
Mt. Norquay will kick the season off with operations limited to the Cascade Chair, Rental Shop and Cafeteria on weekends only until November 29th, 2013.
What’s new at the Mighty Quay this year? Banff’s Backyard Terrain Park is growing with twelve new rail features; the Tube Park is expanding with more lanes (opening November 29th); and the Rental Shop’s shelves are stocked with a brand new fleet of equipment.
Opening days at the Lake Louise Ski Resort and Sunshine Village will quickly follow on November 8th, with Sunshine Village hosting a sneak-a-peak day on November 7th with their annual ‘Ski before we Open’ event. Openings are condition dependent so stay tuned for updates.
