Ormerod makes the podium Big Air World Cup
GB Park and Pipe snowboarder Katie Ormerod opened up a successful weekend for British Ski and Snowboard as she claimed third position in the Snowboard Big Air World Cup in Alpensia, Korea, a PyeongChang Olympic test event.
Team-mate Aimee Fuller clinched a respectable 11th place in the Women’s Big Air following her 4thplace at the Milan Big Air World Cup last week. In the Men’s competition, challenging a world-class field, Billy Morgan finished in 6th place, Rowan Coultas in 8th position. Matt McCormick placed 30th after landing a clean run in his first ever World Cup. This Friday and Saturday sees the next Big Air event in Moenchengladbach, Germany.
Ormerod said after her win: “I'm super happy to get bronze at the Olympic test event. Especially as the standard of riding was the highest it's been at any Big Air contest and I landed both the runs I wanted."
British SBX athletes will be competing in Pitztal Europa Cup on Wednesday and Thursday and will be joined by Olympian Zoe Gillings-Brier, who is competing in her first event since the birth of her daughter this summer.
