Whiteface Mountain, Lake Placid, USA
Dan Wakeham
British Olympic Superpiper
Although Lake Placid is in the state of New York you are better off flying in to Montréal, Canada as it is a shorter drive than NY city. Lake Placid was a host to the 1980 olympic games and also was the setting for the film "lake placid" where there is a big crocodile that eats cows or something crap like that.
The resort is nice but the hill is quite boring, its flat, and there is no interesting terrain. It gets really cold because it is east coast and is often really icy. The olympic village is a cool place to visit as is the town.
