Mazda Snowboard Jamboree 2014

16 Jan 14-19 Dec 13

It was at the FIS Snowboard World Championships in January 2013 that the Stairsmasters competition changed direction with its MOVIE edition.

It proved a hit and the formula will be back for the next edition of the Mazda Snowboard Jamboree presented by Videotron Mobile from January 16 to 19, 2014. The organizing committee, Guillaume Brochu—a designer who has worked on the event for years—and Alex Cantin from the DéjàVu movie will be going all out to make this edition of the video contest a spectacular success, with a thrilling finale slated for Saturday, January 18 at the official Snowboard Jamboree party at the ExpoCité Hangar.

For the pros…

Stairsmasters will be split into two categories so that boarders of all stripes can strut their stuff in the new urban video formula. Eight pro boarders have been invited to the challenge: Frank Bourgeois (Trois-Rivières, QC), Anto Chamberland (Sherbrooke, QC), Jordan Morse (Orem, Utah), Jason Dubois (Stoneham, QC), Jesse Paul (Minneapolis, Minnesota), Jonathan Truchon (Chicoutimi, QC), Layne Treeter (Edmonton, Alberta), and Erik Karlsson (Umeå, Sweden). These boarders will have to submit one minute of video filmed after December 1, 2013. Entries will be judged by Snowboard Canada magazine and boarders involved in the new snowboard film Déjà Vu.

…and amateurs, too!

Urban freestyle boarders can also get a piece of the action in the Open competition. They have until January 5, 2014, to send their one-minute video to the organizing committee. Then social media will determine the finalists on January 7, with the three videos with the most public votes making it through to the final. The overall winner will be selected by the judges and revealed at the grand final. The winner will scoop a season pass to Stoneham Mountain Resort. Full contest details are available at

Over $13,000 in prizes for the pros!

A jury will have the difficult task of choosing the top 3 boarders in the pro competition, with the overall winner walking away with a $10,000 cash prize. Videos will be screened to a crowd of over 2,500 at the official Snowboard Jamboree party on Saturday, January 18, 2014. And the public will also be able to vote using the event’s mobile app to give the Videotron Mobile $1,000 cash prize to their favourite athlete.
