2014 Winter Olympic Snowboard Cross
16-17 February 14
The Boarder Cross comes to Sochi and will no doubt provide some of the best thrills and spills of the whole olympics!
Riders lining up for the snowboardcross at the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park will be greeted with 1,250-metre long course, featuring eight turns, a series of jumps, roller sections and vertical drop of 210m.
The course, has already been successfully tested at a number of events including the FIS Freestyle World Cup in February 2013, and the FIS Snowboard World Cup in March, and received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the riders who have tested it.
This was all put together by leading experts David Ny and Nicolas Vaudroz who worked with FIS cross specialist and Olympian Martin Fiala to create exceptional course. Speaking of the course Fiala said:
“The Olympic programme always provides some extra special characteristics from our World Cups and World Championships courses,”
“The cross course in Rosa Khutor challenges all skills from both snowboarding and skiing. I would like to thank all involved from the Rosa Khutor ski area, National Ski Association(s), from the Organising Committee and also to the course designers and the course builders for their hard pre-work on the road to the competitions”
