Filzmoos, Austria
Resort life
Filzmoos could never be described as a wild resort but there is enough going on in town to satisfy most needs. There is lots to see and do including Horse drawn sleigh rides that go high into the mountains where tired riders can get a selection of fine food at a local farm restaurant. Night lit toboggan runs and torch lit walks into the mountains run often through the season. Those heading to Filzmoos in early January are also likely to see the national balloon festival which has a massive draw with the highlight been a mid week night flight and firework spectacle. The village also has lots of history which is interesting to discover and sets the place apart from many purpose built resorts that lack in soul and character.

For something special there is the Hubertus Hotel a 2* Michelin restaurant although booking is required. The Jagdhof also comes highly recommended and the Hannershof cater to those on a smaller budget. Local Pizza takeaways including Pinocchio will also deliver direct to your accommodation and speak excellent English to make the experience straightforward.
Nightlife
For those looking for a wild time Filzmoos is probably not the place. But the resort has a number of options for those seeking the famous Austrian Après Ski. The Happy Filzmoos bar gets going between 4 and 6 pm and will have even the most reserved boarder dancing by closing time.

For those seeking a late night getaway head to the Kalahari nightclub that is open till 3am also the Ken-i-di bar provides regular live music. There are also lots of traditional bars dotted around the slopes as well as restaurants that welcome people in with open arms. The Austrians like their schnapps so be prepared to get into the party spirit with them.
Accomodation
There are a number of places to stay in Filzmoos for those of all budgets. The town consists of many Hotels, Guesthouses and privately owned Chalets. Those looking to be near the action can stay in the center of town. However those looking for a peaceful time may prefer to stay higher up the mountain where they will find the Alpekrone hotel and a number of high quality chalets.
