Reel Rock 12 – Coming November 2017!
The International Reel Rock Film Tour is returning to the UK and Ireland this November, bringing a night of thrilling climbing and adventure films to venues up and down the UK.
The Tour will premier four new films, starring top adventurers as they take on mind-blowing challenges in spectacular locations all around the world. Join 19-year-old Margo Hayes as she pushes mind and body to the absolute limit to attempt to become the first woman to climb the gruelling grade 5.15; and take the plunge with Chris Sharma, the world’s greatest practitioner of deep water soloing – climbing ropeless above the sea – as he tackles a spectacular, sweeping route in Mallorca, with plenty of heart-stopping plummets into the water along the way.

Audiences can expect incredible cinematography, big laughs and serious inspiration, as well as prize giveaways that add to the event’s festival feel. The tour starts in Plymouth on Wednesday 18 November and includes a three-night run in London from 27-29 November. The Reel Rock Film Tour is now in its 12th year. It visits countries on five continents, and 2017 will be the sixth time it has toured the UK. For tickets see www.reelrock.co.uk
Highlights from the 2017 Reel Rock Film Tour include: Safety Third For most climbers, it's safety first. But Brad Gobright is definitely not most climbers. Fuelled by day-old doughnuts and unhindered by a fear of falling, this young talent is pushing the limits of scary trad and free solo ropeless climbing in his backyard playground of Eldorado Canyon, Colorado. Having survived a few big scares, Brad is determined to make his boldest ascent yet – a first-ever free solo of one of Eldo’s most exposed and difficult routes.
Stumped Maureen Beck may have been born missing her lower left arm, but that hasn't stopped her from going hard. She pushes her ‘stump’ to the limit, takes whippers on 5.12, and crushes overhanging boulders, while sinking beers between burns. She isn’t making excuses for herself though. “I don’t want to just be a good one-armed climber,” says Maureen. “I want to be a good climber.”
