Although this place is a bit nouveau, it isn't as crass as neighbouring Vail, and it has some nice terrain for freeriders and a couple of half decent terrain parks for intermediate riders. Grouse Mountain has more than its fair share of steeps, but the skiers have genreally been there already and turned the montain into a bump nightmare worth avoiding, unless there's been a fresh snowfall. Of all the US resorts I rode, this one seemed the most anal about riders and skiers staying safe, to the extent that there was anemergency telephone every 100 meters slopeside. Nice to feel that they care, but ultimately a bit claustrophobic, with ski patrols everywhere.
