Silver Star Snowboarder / Rowan Thornton
Take a trip to Silver Star and you’ll feel like you’ve taken a trip. When you walk down the high street, which is part of a piste, you walk through a purpose-built fake mining village. The shops are painted bright colours and have a raised wooden walkway outside. If you look up, you expect to see a mock cowboy shootout, while around each corner you expect to bump into Mickey Mouse. That said, Silver Star has an average snowfall of over 6 metres, a frontside of well-groomed pistes and a backside of hardcore chutes. Silver Star won’t disappoint riders, unless they're expecting Mickey.
Beginners will also appreciate Silver Star, with its well-connected green and blue runs. The local snowboard school runs daily programmes as well as weekly camps which even offer video analysis.
