Lake Louise, Canada

Rated 9 out of 10

A bit of a victim of its own success i suppose, with huge crowds and long lift queues on a bad day, but having said that they were building more when we were there. The terrain is great for riding, and the difficulty you'll find is concentrating on what you're doing with the stunning scenery around you. Food was great with all you can eat breakfasts serving everything we could want for. We were staying in Bannf, and only got there twice, but i could go and stay for a week easily.

BC’s Finest…you better believe it baby!

Mon 20 November 2006 Peter

At the risk of descending into ‘board lore’ hyperbole; there was a moment when I was standing on the 100 meter wide piste just off the Top of the World Chair lift at Lake Louise, in the middle of the Canadian Rockies, snowflakes twinkling in the sunlight that I felt like I died and gone to heaven. Despite the drive, the occasional queue, cheesy celeb promotions and overpriced nasty food, Louise is still a truly special place to cut some tracks.

For a good beginner/ intermediate like myself there was so much to go at. If you want to Carve then it is the resort you can’t afford not to visit. Equally there are tree runs, off piste and more challenging traverses and tracks around every turn. Similarly there are natural hit, jumps and opportunities a plenty to catch air.

And apart from the size – don’t believe many of the guide books that say it's not as big as the marketing campaign claims. Louise is a seriously big resort – it is jaw droppingly beautiful. Everywhere you look there is an elemental vista that I was continually stopping to gawp at.

Anyway I think you get the picture. And as I’ve run out of superlatives to describe this place, all I can say is if you are  going to BC, go there and see for yourself.

Is this for real... you bet.

The views, the terrain, the atmosphere, the snow, the rapid changing weather fronts, the…RIDE….. This is what Snowboarding is all about and Lake Louise delivers this in truck loads. Great food, very friendly service, weekends are very busy so get your self to the back bowl where it is quieter at the start of the day as people have not discovered it yet. Love the place to bits, number one in my books.

Excellent freeriding on four mountain faces although slopes can get very busy. Facilities in Louise are a bit on the dull side, but overall with Banff as an alternative this is a great destination for all.
