Lake Louise, Canada

BCs Finest you better believe it baby!

At the risk of descending into ‘board lore’ hyperbole; there was a moment when I was standing on the 100 meter wide piste just off the Top of the World Chair lift at Lake Louise, in the middle of the Canadian Rockies, snowflakes twinkling in the sunlight that I felt like I died and gone to heaven. Despite the drive, the occasional queue, cheesy celeb promotions and overpriced nasty food, Louise is still a truly special place to cut some tracks.
For a good beginner/ intermediate like myself there was so much to go at. If you want to Carve then it is the resort you can’t afford not to visit. Equally there are tree runs, off piste and more challenging traverses and tracks around every turn. Similarly there are natural hit, jumps and opportunities a plenty to catch air.
And apart from the size – don’t believe many of the guide books that say it's not as big as the marketing campaign claims. Louise is a seriously big resort – it is jaw droppingly beautiful. Everywhere you look there is an elemental vista that I was continually stopping to gawp at.
Anyway I think you get the picture. And as I’ve run out of superlatives to describe this place, all I can say is if you are going to BC, go there and see for yourself.
Is this for real... you bet.

.. This is what Snowboarding is all about and Lake Louise delivers this in truck loads. Great food, very friendly service, weekends are very busy so get your self to the back bowl where it is quieter at the start of the day as people have not discovered it yet. Love the place to bits, number one in my books.
