Travel by FlyingFlying

Chuo taxis can be booked from Narita airport to Nagano station for ¥8,500 per person. Then take a bus to Hakuba. Taxis can sometimes be booked directly to Hakuba for ¥11,000, depending on numbers. Contact otoiawase@chuotaxi.co.jp well in advance.

Travel by BusBy bus/coach

Free bus from Nagano station to resort. Leaves 9:10 and returns 16:35, tel 0261-75-3147 to reserve in advance. Alpico run buses from Nagano station 10 times a day for ¥1,400 (one way). Express Alpico buses from Shinjuku to Hakuba Goryu go 4 times a day for ¥4,800 (one way) Approx 4.5hrs travel time. Check www.alpico.co.jp/access/express/index_e.html for more information. Free Hakuba 47 shuttles operate throughout the Hakuba village to restaurants and the major hotels.

Travel by trainBy train

Bullet trains from Tokyo go 10 times a day to Nagano station then take a bus to Hakuba. Train costs 7,970 yen, Alpico Bus 1,400 yen (one way)

Summary
The park & pipe almost make up for the resorts attitude towards going off-piste. Sticking to the pistes and you'll have a good time with plenty of well groomed and long slopes.
