World Snowboard Guide 11th edition

Sun Valley, USA

Introduction

Sun Valley dates back decades and comes with a fair share of its own history. Said to be the USA’s oldest ski resorts, Sun Valley has managed stay up with the times and today is a resort that is a match for any other destination in the country. Located in the southern part of Idaho and east of the capital Bosie, what you have here is a resort for every one from advanced air heads to total first timers, although it’s fair to say that the beginner terrain is a bit limited.

On and off the slopes the whole area has a rather strange feel to it with a mixture of the Old Wild West and a hint of Europe thrown in. Its set to a back drop of a large rideable area which covers over 2000 acres and split over two main areas known as Dollar/Elkhorn and Bald Mountain. Dollar/Elkhorn area the smaller and best for beginners while Bald Mountain is the place to head for to ride some advanced steeps.

Whichever area you try out, you will be met with excellent slope facilities which incorporates a high tech automated snowmaking system that covers over 78% of the slopes.
