Foppolo is a simple resort that will appeal to visitors who like crowd-free slopes with a good annual snowfall. Like many purpose-built resorts, Foppolo is located at the foot of the mountain and dates back as a ski resort many, many years. This means access to the slopes is easy and convenient, with riding spread out over a number of connecting mountain areas, from the summit of Montebello at 2100m, down to the small hamlet of Carona at 1100m.
Much of the terrain on offer here is rated evenly between beginners and intermediates, with only a small amount of black advanced grade slopes. Despite the lack of challenging terrain, this is still a cool Italian hangout without too many ski crowds messing up the slopes. Foppolo has some 20 pisted runs serviced by a dozen mainly draglifts. The resort also links with San Simone, but you need to take the 15-minute shuttlebus to reach its slopes as it doesn’t link directly on snow. However, all areas share a lift pass.
Wherever you ride, what you will notice is the simplicity of the place and the ease in which to get around. You will also notice that the resort staff work hard at keeping the slopes well pisted and covered in artificial snow when its needed, which is quite often.
