Audrey McManiman was the only rider from Québec, including the men. It was a dream come true for McManiman as she soared down the impressive ramp at Îlot Fleurie in the Big Air grand final Friday night and finished 6th in the rankings. Among the men, Canada’s Darcy Sharpe (British Columbia) finished a very strong 1st!

“We’re absolutely delighted with the 2015 edition of the World Cup,” said Martial De Rome, president of the Québec Winter Events Corporation. “Canadians put in noteworthy performances across the board, and our next generation of athletes showed they weren’t out of place next to the big names! What more could we ask for?” The day after the Big Air World Cup, the action moved to Stoneham Mountain Resort, where the FIS Slopestyle World Cup presented by Mazda saw the Canadian Michael Ciccarelli (ON) finish first on the podium.

For pros and amateurs alike!

As well as hosting the World Cups, the organizing committee makes a point every year of helping spur on the development of young riders in the SBJ Open ski & snow amateur competitions in collaboration with RPZN & PDWR ROOM, along with Slopestyle sessions and activities to get kids snowboarding for the first time at the Mountain in the City in collaboration with Burton Snowboard. In all, close to 700 young people tried their hand at the sport this year, both in the city and out on the mountain! Plus, Camp Bonkelog was at the foot of the slopes at Stoneham Mountain Resort all weekend long. The original snowboard park featured an all-new course and was 100% designed for snowboards and snowskates—to the delight to all involved!

A hugely successful Night Bazaar

The winter party took place Friday night at Le Cercle as the event’s official Night Bazaar party, presented by Tremblay beer, got underway. More than 500 people came together in a celebration of snowboarding, art, music, and great food, all in a unique atmosphere. As usual, the organizing committee made sure snowboarding was front and centre by showing the Stairsmasters movie edition grand final. Antonin Chamberland won this third edition and took home the $10,000 cash prize. New Zealand duo Heymoonshaker impressed with their tunes, followed by DJ FredC who kept the party going until the early hours of the morning.
