Saturday 13th November saw CairnGorm Mountain in Scotland open for snowsports with over 130 skiers and boarders taking to the slopes only 145 days after skiing finally stopped last winter. More than 250 ski spectators also came up to enjoy the action.

Light winds, and reasonable visibility made it a great first day on the hill. Skiing was possible from the train and there was a prepared run from the Ptarmigan Top station down the Traverse, 105 and the Zig Zags back to the train mid station stop. The White Lady and the M1 were also skiable with care but remain unpisted.

“This has been a great start and we’ve received many appreciative messages of support for making the effort to open up this weekend.” said Spokesperson Tania Alliod “We hope the cold conditions continue and we can add to the great base that is building up. Conditions are still not suitable for beginners but there is plenty of terrain for intermediates and experts to find their snow legs”.
