Crystal Ski Holidays adds Sun Peaks in Canada
Crystal Ski Holidays is delighted to add Sun Peaks Resort in British Columbia, Canada, to its portfolio. The programme will go on sale from today, 15 March 2016, in preparation for the 2016/17 season.
Sun Peaks is located in the interior of the province and receives on average nearly six metres of light, dry, 'easy-to-ski' powder snow every winter. It’s the second largest ski area in Canada, and frequently shares the ranking of the top two resorts in Canada with neighbouring Whistler, most notably by Snowboard Canada Magazine and the North American Condé Nast Traveler Readers Poll.
The resort offers skiing across three mountains with over 4,270 acres of terrain on long cruisers and bumps, steep slopes as well as off-piste in Alpine bowls. Mount Tod summit is at 2152m (7060ft) and the village at 1255m (4116ft) offering convenient ski-in, ski-out accommodation and a diversity of dining options.
The longest run is nearly 8km (5 miles) and the resort has 12 lifts (three high speed quad chairlifts, two quad chairlifts, one triple chairlift and six surface lifts). Cross country skiers have the choice of almost 40km of groomed and 17km of backcountry trails. The Rockstar Energy Terrain Park is a 10-acre park with distinct zones for all abilities.
“This new and exciting partnership with Crystal Ski Holidays is a significant development for Sun Peaks Resort. From an awareness and visitation standpoint, this relationship gives us great exposure in a valuable and important international market,” says Darcy Alexander, General Manager at Sun Peaks Resort.
Crystal’s Purchasing Director Gordon Ritter commented “Featuring Sun Peaks is long overdue, after all we are talking about Canada’s second largest ski area with a great snow record and terrain to suit all abilities. Access is easy, a one stop flight from London via Kamloops and a 45 minute transfer. And while you’re there don’t forget to join the mayor Al Raine and his wife Olympian Nancy Greene on a tour of the ski area.”
Crystal offers accommodation at the following properties:
- Nancy Greene’s Cahilty Lodge – A family oriented condominium-style hotel with rooms that can be combined in numerous ways to suit your party—most have kitchens. On-site amenities include ski lockers, hot tubs, underground parking and a restaurant. The Cahilty is in an ideal ski-in, ski-out position, close to the grocery and liquor stores and a variety of restaurants and shops.
- Sun Peaks Grand – Eat, sleep, and ski in style. Start with their award winning culinary team’s multiple restaurants. Recuperate in one of three enormous hot tubs or in the heated outdoor pool. Pamper yourself with the ski valet service (ski to the hotel door, walk 10 metres and hand your skis or snowboard to the waiting valet) and slide right down to the main lifts.
- Coast Sundance Lodge – Conveniently located within the village and offers a true ski-in, ski-out location at the base of the Sundance chair. Rooms range from studio rooms with kitchenettes to 1 and 2 bedroom apartments with full kitchens and includes free Wi-Fi and local calls.
Sun Peaks is the only resort in Canada to receive the ISO 14001 designation, recognising the management of the environmental and social impacts by identifying areas for reduction in energy and other resource consumption as well as preventing pollution. It was also the first ski resort in North America to gain this accolade.
The price for a week’s stay at the three-star Nancy Greene’s Cahilty Lodge in Sun Peaks is from £966 per person (based on two sharing) with Air Canada flights from London Heathrow to Kamloops via Calgary departing on 11 January 2017 and transfers. Save £199 in the special two-for-one lift pass deal (book by 31 August 2016).
