Europa Cup win for Zoe Gillings-Brier
Zoe Gillings-Brier was on form after taking some time out this season, finishing first in the Snowboard Cross Europa Cup in Lenk, Switzerland.
This followed her Europa Cup 3rd place on Friday in the same resort. Stephanie Gehrig finished 21st in Friday’s race and 25th in Saturday’s race. For the British men, Max Thidling had the best results, taking an 8th place in yesterday’s junior race, and 18th in Sunday’s Europa Cup.
Over in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis in Austria, Jenny Jones, Aimee Fuller and Katie Summerhayes were all taking part in the Nine Queens contest, which brings together some of the world’s best freeskiers and snowboarders to ride and compete in the impressive looking snow park castle. After a week riding amongst the best in the world, they all had a successful week, but unfortunately no podiums.
After fresh snow and inclement weather yesterday, the first day of racing at the Delancey British National Alpine Ski Championships was postponed, so the National Championships and National Junior Championships Super G Today will now take place today, Monday, in much improved weather. A full schedule of racing can be found on the BSS website www.teambss.org.uk with update on Twitter @teambss
Also in Tignes, the British Snowboard and Freeski Championships (The BRITS) start today with the Ski Cross and Snowboard Bangers and Cash Rails. Ed Drake will compete from the British Ski Cross Team, with rumours that Pam Thorburn may also be giving the youngsters a run for their money. GB Park and Pipe athletes competing include snowboarders Lewis Courtier Jones, Jamie Trinder, Henry Shackleton and Matt McCormick. And for the skiers, Murray Buchan and Tyler Harding will both be in action. A full schedule can be found on www.the-brits.com
