After a slow start which has seen the warmest and driest European Autumn since 1864, it seems that customers and the snow industry can finally relax a little as snow continues to fall throughout many resorts.

In Switzerland the snow continued to fall at Andermatt, Arosa, which allowed riders out for the first time last weekend. Snow also fell yesterday at Zermatt,and Davos and Klosters. Predictions look good for the end of week as another half a meter of snow is predicted.

Snow also fell in many of the major French resorts including Tignes, Val Thorens and Courchavel. Val D’Isere also reported over 20 cm of new snow yesterday.

 In Austria many resorts are yet to open so snow reports are limited but Obergurgl saw a fall of 10cm and is currently operating 15 out of its 24 ski lifts. Solden announced 40cm of new snow yesterday with Ischgl reporting that 10cm fell yesterday. Snow also fell at St Anton and Lech which currently has 4 out of 84 lifts open.

The snow also fell in Italy with the resorts of the milky Way including Sauze d’Oulx and Sestriere all reporting 20cm of new snow each. Cervinia and Madesimo continued the trend with 15cm of new snow.

Across the rest of Europe Germany, Bulgaria and Scotland are yet to open for the new season. However Scotland looks particularly promising with web cam results for the Cairngorm and the Lecht areas showing fresh snow fall.

The coming week suggests that the much welcomed snow will continue to fall until at least mid week with anything between 10cm – 40 cm expected in many of the French resorts. Predictions are that conditions will brighten up towards the end of the week which will make for pleasant riding conditions.
