GO SKI GO BOARD expands into Wales and Scotland
GO SKI GO BOARD expands into Wales with Scotland to follow in early 2016
Snowsport England’s national snowsports participation campaign, GO SKI GO BOARD, will now run at artificial ski slopes across Wales, as Snowsport Wales commit to rolling out the programme, which has already seen over 128,000 people take advantage of GO SKI GO BOARD sessions in the England since it began in September 2013.
GO SKI GO BOARD sessions running at seven Welsh slopes can now be found on the website www.goskigoboard.org.uk, and are run for a range of ability levels of both skiers and snowboarders. As in England, the sessions will be all-inclusive and offer value for money, perfect for bringing new people into the sport.
The introduction of the programme to Welsh ski and snowboard centres has already been praised. Llangrannog Ski Centre enthused about the initiative saying it is ‘A brilliant opportunity for people of all ages across Wales to try snowsport on home soil’ whilst Peter Bishop from Pontypool Ski Centre said: “GO SKI GO BOARD is a fantastic programme for anyone interested in skiing or snowboarding from beginners to experts. By visiting the website you can easily see what's on offer at your local slope and most other slopes around the country all in one place.”
Early 2016 will also see GO SKI GO BOARD being introduced to several Scottish centres, clubs and resorts, as Snowsport Scotland join the participation programme. GO SKI GO BOARD sessions will be delivered at selected venues and clubs initially, with the view to expanding across the whole country as the year progresses, linking in with the Ski Scotland initiative.
Snowsport England Chief Executive Tim Fawke said of the developments: “GO SKI GO BOARD has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 2013 and it’s fantastic news that Snowsport Wales have launched the initiative to the Welsh public and that Snowsport Scotland will come on board in early 2016. Working together as governing bodies, we can help publicise how accessible skiing and snowboarding is and get more people along to their local centre or resort to give it a go in the UK”
