Goggles for Docs launches in the UK
The American initiative has so far provided 31,000 ski goggles to doctors and nurses working on the front-line battling COVID-19
Goggles for Docs UK has just launched and is an effort to get used or new ski goggles into the hands of NHS workers who currently have no eye protection as they treat COVID-19 patients in the UK.
This cause has been set up based on the success of www.gogglesfordocs.com which was set up in the States. They have had 31,860 goggles donated to date and still counting!
Our hope is that our healthcare professionals get the official PPE they need and that these donations aren’t needed. In the meantime, we will work to bridge the gap until they do.
There are a range of ways to donate, either by post or drop off points. Please see our website www.gogglesfordocs.co.uk for full details and FAQs.
All donations are channeled to where they can have the biggest impact by the Local Resilience Forum, supported by the military, who are managing the logistics of collection from drop off centres and distribution to those that need it most.
We are now urgently calling for ski and snowboard brands and manufacturers to get in touch and donate in bulk so we can make a real difference. The government has confirmed there have been 27 verified deaths of NHS staff during the pandemic. These donations could help save lives.
