The British GBX trials commenced on Saturday which saw a large number of ski and snowboard athletes of various standards and ages descend on Scotland to undertake the British GBX selection process for selection to the British Home Nations, National Academy and British National Squads.

 

The British GBX trials are being run by 3 x Olympic GBX athlete Zoe Gillings-Brier on behalf of British Ski & Snowboard, Snowsport Scotland and Snowsport England and feature Mitsubishi Motors in the UK as headline partner.

 

As one of only four GBX recognised selection centres in the UK, Snow Factor, Braehead, created an excellent Cross Course and provided some highly experienced and talented coaching staff to assist in running the event.

 

“The standard of athletes trying out at the event surpassed all our expectations” explained event lead and 3 time GBX Olympian Zoe Gillings-Brier. “I couldn’t get over how great the venue was and how talented these athletes were – ski & snowboard – they were awesome. We definitely have future Olympic contenders within the selected athletes.

 

Incredibly, over 20 ski & snowboard athletes were selected onto the GBX squads.  Snowsport Scotland National Performance Manager commented, “We were really happy to have the first GBX trial here in Scotland. The set up from Snow Factor was great with a very high standard of athlete at event. We are looking forward to working with the GBX team and Mitsubishi to host the next event at this location in July and having a competition tagged on to in all in Snow Factor.”
