New ‘SkiFit8’ app launched to get you slope fit!
For skiers and snowboarders who are short on time but still want to get fit for their ski holiday, SkiFit have launched a new ‘SkiFit8’ app which offers an eight minute workout which can be done at any time of day to fit in with busy schedules.
‘SkiFit8’ is fronted by Chamonix-based physiotherapist and clinical expert, Neil Maclean-Martin and is an ideal way to kick start a snowsports holiday fitness programme or complement other fitness activities such as cycling or gym workouts in preparation for a ski trip.
Getting fit for your snowsports holiday is important to minimise injury and allow for maximum enjoyment, and ‘SkiFit 8’ offers a bite-sized series of high quality exercises which can be done almost anywhere. Suitable for all levels, the exercises focus on improving strength in key muscles as well as developing flexibility and balance.
Maclean-Martin, who has worked for more than fifteen years in the world of elite sport is regarded as one of Europe’s leading ski and snowboard physiotherapists and regularly treats Chamonix’s pro-skiers and mountain professionals. His desire to produce what he describes as a ‘pre-habilitation programme’ came after treating ski injuries which he was sure could have been prevented by improved strength in key muscles used in snowsports which rarely get used in other sports or everyday life.
Maclean-Martin said of the launch of SkiFit8: “We launched ‘SkiFit8’ after there was a desire for busy people to get a quick fitness fix as they prepared for skiing. The good thing about it is that you can squeeze it in when it suits you, maybe as the dinner is cooking or when you get up in the morning, and if you like, you can do it more than once a day. I can’t stress how important it is to get fit for skiing or snowboarding. The app will help you develop strength and control, making your time on the slopes more enjoyable and meaning you will be less likely to get injured.”
‘SkiFit8’ costs just £1.49 and the app can be downloaded from the iTunes App store or Google Play store now – just search for SkiFit8.
For skiers and snowboarders who want to expand their fitness programme, there is the option to progress to the full ‘SkiFit’ programme, which can be done at home or in the gym. The eight week training programme is delivered over four phases and can downloaded as an App or accessed on the website www.befitapps.com.
The full ‘SkiFit’ Programme, which also includes three bonus videos covering use of gym balls and rollers, costs £9.99 via the BeFitApps website, iTunes App store or Google Play store. Phase Lite is free to give users a taster of what to expect from the full programme.
SkiFit is part of the ‘BeFitApps’ series, which also includes RunFit, TriFit and BikeFit (coming soon). For more information visitwww.befitapps.com.
