The first-ever Pond Skimming World Cup is coming to Banff National Park on May 23, 2016.
In partnership with POWDER Magazine, Sunshine Village is excited to announce the 2016 Slush Cup will also serve as the inaugural Pond Skimming World Cup.
A variety of North American ski resorts including Crested Butte, CO; Big Sky, MT; Stevens Pass, WA and Squaw Valley, CA have hosted qualifying events crowning a men and women's champion to represent their home resort at the inaugural Pond Skimming World Cup at Sunshine Village in Banff, Canada. This annual season-ending event starts at 1 p.m. MST on Monday, May 23, 2016.
“Slush Cup is steeped in tradition here at Sunshine Village and with the first-ever Pond Skimming World Cup being added, we have the opportunity to showcase Sunshine to the world,” says Dave Riley, Chief Operating Officer at Sunshine Village.
“With Sunshine’s ski season running from November until mid-May, we have one of the longest non-glacial ski season’s on the continent and this event is a celebration of that,” finished Riley.
