Shextreme Film Festival Comes to Bristol!
Shextreme Film Festival is the world's first film festival for women in extreme sports and adventure, coming to Bristol on Fridy 21st of October.
Born out of a frustration of attending many adventure film festivals and realising often only 5% of the film line up featured women despite the audience being 50% men and 50% women, Dr. Ruth Farrar decided to be the change she wanted to see so she created Shextreme Film Festival to support and celebrate women in extreme sports and adventure.
After last year's sold out success, this year the festival has expanded to a two day programme including a pioneering adventure film school led by six experts including award-winning adventure filmmaker Hannah Maia.
This year, Shextreme has secured several hotly anticipated UK film premieres including the two year snowboarding film project FULL MOON, waves and powder adventure WAY EAST and post-earthquake wild skating film from Japan BROKEN ROADS.
Festival panel speakers include Olympic-medal winning Jenny Jones, Everest climber Squash Falconer and award-winning adventure blogger Sian Lewis: The Girl Outdoors.
It promises to be a fun evening celebrating female creativity as Shextreme Film Festival is also showcasing independent pop up shops run by women such as snow apparel company Snooks. Artist Chanti Mai is also flying in from Amsterdam to create some lush live surf art on the night.
