Verbier launches “Verbier Impulse” Music Festival
TEXAS, 77 BOMBAY STREET, STEFANIE HEINZMANN and a great surprise guest: to enliven Verbier ski resort and village during the end of the season, Verbier is launching a brand-new music and sportsoriented event: the “Verbier Impulse – Music & Ski Festival”.
For over fifteen years, in early April, the resort has been hosting a sporting event that attracts some of the best skiers and snowboarders during the Verbier High Five by Carlsberg. From now on, the first two weekends of April will also be musical, as the popular skiing competitions will be complemented by concerts on the ski area.
Last year, the concept was put to the test with great success at the High Five by Carlsberg with a concert by Marlon Roudette, an English singer who has regularly topped the charts with a string of hit
songs. This was an ideal occasion for a life-size test of the Attelas venue in preparation for expanding the musical offer both on the slopes and in the village. This marked the birth of the “Verbier Impulse”, based on an idea put forward by Téléverbier in close cooperation with the main partners of the resort and the Caribana Festival team, on whose experience and professionalism we can rely in working towards a successful outcome of this project.
The idea is quite simple: to create two long weekends full of concerts both on the slopes and in the village. In other words, no less than 6 days of concerts on April 8
th through 10th, and the following week from April 15 to 17th 2016. The main concerts will take place on the “main stage” that has recently been christened “Arène des Attelas” located just down the hill from the Chalet Carlsberg, the true heart of this innovative event. Snow bleachers forming an arena with a capacity of over 5000 persons on a site that is usually nicely sheltered from the wind at 2500m in altitude will welcome the festival fans in front of a breath-taking panorama. Without a shadow of a doubt, this place will soon become iconic.
Verbier Impulse will delight ski and music enthusiasts by featuring internationally acclaimed artists, Swiss stars, tribute bands, young talents from the Valais, as well as plenty of snow, skiing and
everything else one needs to create unforgettable moments. On the sporting side, the first weekend will be dedicated to up-and-coming stars with the final of the Philippe Roux Cup on Saturday April 9th. Both winners, girl and boy, will be able to earn their sports VIP status and compete alongside World Cup skiers and ski cross contestants on Saturday April 16th during the Verbier High Five by Carlsberg. The sports personalities taking part will be: Wendy Holdener, Tina Weirather, Charlotte Châble, Irene Curtoni, Adrien Théaux, Justin Murisier, Daniel Yule, as well as the recently retired Didier Défago. Those interested can already sign up on our website.
Musically, both weekends will run the same way: a group performing covers on the Friday, an international star on the Saturday and a Swiss star on the Sunday. For the time being, the organisers are sorting out the contract details for an international “SURPRISE GUEST” – whose name will be revealed in the forthcoming weeks – to perform on Saturday April 9th.
They are also announcing the presence of the winner of the German show “Deutschland sucht den Superstar”, STEFANIE HEINZMANN, for Sunday 10th April. Saturday April 16th will provide a chance to see the group TEXAS that has sold over 35 million records and will be singing some of their many global hits including "I Don't Want A Lover", "Summer Son", "Say What You Want" and "Inner Smile".
Sunday April 17th 2016 will bring the turn of 77 BOMBAY STREET to perform some of their greatest hits such as “Up in the sky” or “Long Way” at the Arène des Attelas. This Swiss German group with an impressive number of platinum and golden discs to its credit will notably introduce a few songs from its new evocatively titled "Seven Mountains" album.
And all that is just a glimpse of what the public can expect during these exciting six days in Verbier. In addition to the Arène des Attelas, several other venues will be hosting concerts: either up on the slopes on the Mouton Noir’s terrace and the stage of the “1936” bar; or in the village where most of the establishments will have live bands playing. Access to the concerts will be free of charge for all people with a ski pass for Verbier or 4 Vallées (minimum value CHF 66.- and the same for pedestrians). Special deals for 3 or 6 days will be available on our website www.verbierimpulse.com.
The full line-up of the Verbier Impulse will be announced little by little on our website www.verbierimpulse.com.
