Work began back in December to build the impressive Big Air ramp structure downtown at L’Îlôt Fleurie and everything is well on track to be ready ahead of the big day. The contest is attracting more than a hundred of the world’s top skiers and snowboarders, including plenty of familar names from the PyeongChang Olympics.

This year’s big event wraps up the 2017-2018 World Cup season on Canadian snow, and the overall winners get to take home a coveted Crystal Globe.Several recent Olympic medallists have already confirmed their attendance, including Max Parrot (CAN), Laurie Blouin (CAN), Anna Gasser (AUT), Jamie Anderson (USA) and Red Gerard (USA)!

About the FIS Big Air World Cup

• 10th edition of the Big Air at L’Îlot Fleurie in downtown Quebec City (started in 2009) 
• The biggest Big Air in Canada
• One of the only Big Airs on the World Cup tour integrating the natural environment into the ramp structure, so less scaffolding is needed—Big Air ramps don’t get more natural than this!
• 40 metres (131 feet) high and 91 metres (300 feet) long
• Start ramp 6.1 metres (20 feet) wide
• Jump 3.6 metres (12 feet) high, 6.1 metres (20 feet) wide and 12.40 metres (41 feet) long
• 250,000 lbs = weight of the structure, not including snow
• 10,000 cubic feet of snow needed for the structure
• Crew of more than 50 people hard at work for 10 weeks

By March 18, all the construction, snow coverage and site setup work will be complete, giving athletes the opportunity to train ahead of the grand final on Saturday, March 24 and spectators the chance to enjoy the long weekend of Jamboree festivities.
