Beginner terrain in the Base Area, a portion of the Fish Bowl Terrain Park and limited terrain on the front side of the mountain including top-to-bottom skiing via Russ’s Street and Moe-Mentum was also open. The price of a daily ticket will be reduced to $60 for adults ages 19-64, $55 for teens 13-18 and seniors 65-69 and $32 for ages 7-12. Super seniors 70 & over and children 6 & under are free.

“We’re excited to get the season started and explore the new terrain that can now be accessed by the Flower Point chairlift,” Whitefish Mountain Resort President Dan Graves said. “For many years the best early season skiing is found on the north side of the mountain. This is one of those years when the back side is full-on winter mode and the front needs another good storm. Fortunately we can enjoy the new runs and riding a second lift on the back of the mountain.”

With the Grand Opening of the Flower Point Chairlift, Whitefish Mountain Resort honosr one of the ski area’s founding fathers, Ed Schenck, and Whitefish’s “Father of Skiing” Lloyd “Mully” Muldown by inviting their descendants to be the first to ride the new chairlift. Karl Schenck, along with Chelsea, David and Simma Lefcourt will represent the Schenck family, and Mike Muldown honors his father Mully.

This e resort opened with Chairs 3, 6, 9 and the Big Easy Carpet at 9 a.m. Chair 1 will open at 9:30 a.m. the new Flower Point triple (Chair 11), Chair 7 and the Big Foot T-Bar will open at 10 a.m.

The entire north side of the mountain was open including the new runs and advanced tree skiing off of Flower Point. The new runs Ridge Run, Outside Road, Hidden Meadow and One Grand Parade are open, and other runs accessible from the Flower Point include North Fork, Inside Road, Big Creek and Whiskey Spring. Additional runs open on the back include Big Horn, Black Bear, Caribou, George’s Gorge, Goat Haunt, Hollywood, Kodiak, Silvertip, Whitetail and Gray Wolf. The Bigfoot T-Bar runs Lodi Ridge, Lynx and Trapper’s Trail is also available.

Summit-to-Base Area skiing is available on Russ’s Street and Moe-Mentum. Beginner runs in the base area open include Chipmunk, Huckleberry, Big Easy and Lower Inspiration. Guests can also download on Chair 1 until 3:45 p.m. In the Upper Village Hope Slope is open including a few terrain park features. Additional terrain and lifts may become available during the day or through the weekend and will be determined by ski patrol.

“We’d like to remind everyone to ski and ride with care, within their ability levels, and remember early season conditions exist, unmarked obstacles and other natural terrain features may be encountered at any time,” said David Stephens, Whitefish Mountain Resort ski patrol manager. “Skiers and riders need to respect all closures and safety signage. It’s a long season and we want you enjoy every day, please do not enter closed trails.”

The newly remodeled Base Lodge Café, Base Lodge Bar and the new Base Lodge Coffee Bar, located on the patio is open for full service. Coffee drinks, breakfast, snacks and to go items are available at the Coffee Bar which opens 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Season Pass Holders will receive $1 off all items at the Coffee Bar this Saturday only.

Additionally The Summit House opens for breakfast and lunch 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and the bar is open until 4 p.m. Ed & Mully’s also opens for lunch and après ski 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
