jaw dropping!

Mon 3 March 2008 robin

if youre in the zillertal then this is a must visit, it takes about 40 mins on the green line bus from mayrhofen (free with the superski pass) the scenery here is amazing - you really are high up in the big mountains here and it can be quite humbling - this is no place to be fucking about or you could end up dead, aside from that though, we went right up and visited the betterpark which was redundant in the winter, the kickers are still there in all their huge glory, we did a few runs and then the weather closed in, we headed down and did a little freeride underneath the gondola - which was pretty damn good and also quite steep and deep. its always quiet here at hintertux away from the madding crowds, no lift queues. a bit of local knowledge wouldnt go a miss cos im sure there is some seriously hardcore riding to be had if you know where to go

Summer boarding

Tue 8 August 2006 Coy

I boarded the glacier a couple of summers ago.  Don't take your good board--it will be jacked up by the end of the day...lower third was solid glacier ice, no snow cover, with 3-4 inch run off horizontal crevaces.  Since then I've been back a few times with "the boyz".  Partying was off the chain, off piste powder drifts were over our chest, and we couldn't get enough of the half pipe.  We been all over Europe...Tux is one of the best.

Cool Beans

Thu 30 October 2003 Coombsy
Drove down here one early November (managed it in 11 hours from Calais....). Got to the top and as we came out of the station the wind was blowing snow straight up in to the air from the edge of the lip. It was a truly awesome sight. Mad Japanese International skiers everywhere and thin air but wicked !!!!
