Since I first visited Red four years ago, it has only got better! I have now spent two seasons working there, and can't wait to go back this winter! Its simply Awesome! : -Two great conical mountains with lifts to the top. -You can drop 360 degree of each mountain if you have the ability and balls! -The terrain is all on a great pitch, so virtually no flat sections! -Heaps of light fluffy powder, that generally stays that way for days after a snowfall. -You can still get a completely fresh line at the end of the day, there are so few people! And that has to be unique! -I have only every seen one que that could compare to those seen daily at the likes of Whistler. And that was first thing saturday morning after 89cm pow had falled in three days! And it soon disappeared! -Sure the chairs are old and slow, but after a run your glad to have an excuse to catch your breath! When the resort changed hands in 2004 the new owners released a 10 year plan for developement, including new lifts, expanding the area to 4,200acres, and improving the resorts base facilities. These plans are to be rolled out steadily and quietly; so for winter 2005 they added a Magic Carpet for Beginners and a Terrain Park, for 2006 they added over 250acres of Easy/Intermediate terrain, and for next season there'll be a quad chair-lift replacing one of the antiques! And who knows what will be next?!
And then there's all of the incredible Back-country that is just outside the ski boundary, a 40min hike and its all yours!!!
If I had to find some negative points, they'd be: -Difficult to get to for a weeks holiday, but that could be changing soon! -They don't groom the entire area, but its an awesome freeride resort! -The base area accommodations lack evening activities, but Rossland town is 5mins away! And there are more and more events going on at Rafters Bar at the Daylodge. -Nightlife can be pretty quiet, but there have been two new bars open last season, and besides, you'll be thankful of an excuse not to have to party till dawn! And if you really want to then there is an underground party scene, just get in with the locals!
Used to rank 10, still worthy of it! :o)

What a place! Awesome snow, fluffy and DEEP. Great people on and off the slope, with the skill levels for both skiers and boarders putting Europe to shame. No park, and a simple town, but you need a car. Would go every year if I could, no questions asked. In my 12-year experience the best I've been to.
