Chris Sörman wins the 4Star BGV fest in Russia

The largest event in Russian snowboarding, the 4Star BGV fest took place in the «Metallurg-Magnitogorsk» Ski Resort (Bannoe Lake) last weekend, February 5th to 7th, 2010. The legendary event closed the 2009/10 BGV Tour and saw 24 riders from around the world battling at GLTS Metallurg-Magnitogorsk to fight for $ 20 000 (600 000 rubles).

The set up included two perfectly shaped jumps that were put into full spotlight during the night event in front of hundreds of fans. With a run consisting of a frontside board slide to fakie, switch backside 900 indy, backside 900 indy, Chris Sörman (SWE), who just recently was nominated Best Rider of the Year in Sweden, took home the 4Star title, 500 Swatch TTR points and now sits in World No. 52 in the world ranking list. In second finished Russian rider Alexey Sobole closely followed by the second Swede on the podium, Zebastian Landmark. Chris Kröll (AUT), who had traveled to the BGV Fest for the second consecutive year, finished in fourth made a jump into World No. 44 on the world ranking list.

Together with an FMX and Free Ski show, the evening was a great success and culminated in the BGV Fest awards ceremony that was accompanied by massive fireworks. The best riders are sharing a prize purse of $20 000 (600 000 rubles). Beside the prestigious Russian trophy, the winners received exclusive hand-made bears - the symbol of BGV - with medals made of gold, silver and bronze.
