The impact of Coronavirus continues to spread across the ski industry as resorts in Norway and Austria are set to close for the season at the weekend.
Austria annouced yesterday that any indoor event with more than 100 people or outdoor with more than 500 would be cancelled, and Ischgl soon after released a statement that its Apres-ski bars would be closing as well as cancelling all its events apart from its end of season finale event.
Today Ischgl made the decision to close the resort in its entirity for the season after this weekend, and throughout the day more resorts have followed suit. Mayrhofen announced that Snowbombing was being cancelled, and their altitude festival has been postponed, and have now joined the list of resorts set to close.
The Tyrol region released a statement earlier saying that all its resorts will now be closing at the weekend which includes the heavy weight resorts of St.Anton, Skiwelt, Soelden and Obergurgl.
Outside the Tyrol region most of the remaining Austrian resorts are currently operating as normal, but with such a fluid situation you'd imagine that this is likely to change, and Saalbach has just announced that it to is closing at the weekend.
In Norway, Hemsedal and Trysil are both closing but currently no plans on further closures
