Colorado getting puked on
In the past 48 hours over 29inches (70+cm) has fallen on pretty much every resort in Colorado, Beaver creek have called it the biggest storm this century
A strong winter storm has delivered a bounty of powdery new snow to all Colorado resorts, promising a Super Bowl weekend of great snowboarding.
In the last 48 hours, up to 29 inches has fallen for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy, and more is on the way. So far, CSCUSA resorts have received 19.5 inches of new snow on average; 18 resorts have recorded double-digit snow totals, and nine resorts have recorded two feet or more of fresh powder.
While every resort in Colorado received enough new snow for great skiing and snowboarding, the highest snowfall totals for this storm were in the central areas of the state. Eldora Mountain Resort west of Boulder is celebrating 29 inches of fresh powder since Wednesday, and Ski Cooper is enjoying 28 inches. Copper Mountain and Arapahoe Basin have seen 26 inches so far, Loveland has amassed 25 inches, Winter Park has received 23 inches, and Ski Granby Ranch has measured 12 inches in the first two days of this storm.
All four Vail Resorts Colorado resorts today recorded the largest 24- and 48-hour snowfall totals since the 2000-2001 season, sending January out with a bang. More than two feet of snow has fallen in just two days at Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge and Keystone offering the best ski and snowboarding conditions in North America
A bit further south, Monarch Mountain and Crested Butte each have received an impressive 26 inches of new snow. The four Aspen mountains are catching the brunt of this moisture-packed storm as well, with Aspen Mountain and Aspen Highlands recording 25 inches of new powder thus far, Snowmass receiving 22 inches, and Buttermilk registering 21 inches.
The edge of the weather system has brought plenty of moisture to the western-most resorts in Colorado Ski Country. Snowriders at Wolf Creek are enjoying 17 inches of fresh snow, and Steamboat and Silverton Mountain recorded 15 inches of powder as of this morning. Sunlight Mountain Resort and Telluride are registering 11 inches, Powderhorn is celebrating 10 inches, Durango Mountain Resort and Howelsen Hill have each counted 8 inches so far.
