The good news for us Brits is that both Aimee Fuller and Jamie Nicholls finished strongly in their respective events. Aimee finished 7th in the women’s slopestyle event with a final score of 53.80. While Jamie Nicholls continued to show fantastic form with 2nd in the Dew Tour rail jam, confirming himself as one of the world’s best rail riders. A solid set of results for the Brits going into the Copper Mountain World Cup Snowboard next weekend.  

Aimee did particularly well in a strong field which saw Jamie Anderson back on top form finishing top of the podium with a winning score of 96.00.  It was also an event where Aimee picked up a shoulder injury last year so the result was particuarlly encouraging!

There was also room for two fairly unknown riders Jessika Jenson and Jordie Karlinski  to make the finals. Finishing 5th and 6th  both with an impressive score of 64.0 and 59.2le Karlinski  4th place woman in slope was the 17-year-old Ty Walker is definitely a rider to watch in the future, after dominating the Junior scene she looks set to show the older riders what she can do.

Elsewhere in the Men’s superpipe event the big shock was that Shaun White did not top the podium  despite dominating the half pipe in recent year. It was Greg Bretz who took the win instead with an impressive run where he stomped everything!

Shaun White also bowed out of the snowboard slope style final which was a major blow for the U.S team and was reflected with their highest placed rider only coming in 5th position.

Mark McMorris, wasted no time in taking advantage of this with a first run consisting of a hardway backside 270 to 270 out on the first rail, a cab 270 on the second rail, to cab double cork 1260 and a frontside 1080 double cork on the top two jumps before hitting the chicken coop and second jib leaving him with his signature straight double backflip, aka the wildcat, and a backside 1080 double cork.

“I was going at the last jump not sure what I wanted to do exactly, a double [cork] or a triple [cork], but if I’m not at the head of the pack going into my second run I’m definitely going to have to go for it.”

Not one to rest on his laurels McMorris stepped his game up with a final run containing  a 1080 double cork a1440 triple cork! The run saw his score go from a 95 to a staggering 97.80.

"I had nothing to lose," said McMorris after stomping the triple cork and upping his score. "I told myself everything was going perfect and I had to do a triple."

In the end, his intimidation definitely sunk in on the competition and the top three remained the same.
