Marc Swoboda jibbing his way through Glacier Park Kitzsteinhorn
Snowpark Kitzsteinhorn has been THE destination for freestyle skiers and snowboarders for weeks now.
Snowpark Kitzsteinhorn has been the destination for freestyle skiers and snowboarders for weeks now. While the international top pros work on their tricks at the Superpipe Training Weeks, everyone else enjoys the rails, boxes, tubes and kickers of Glacier Park. In his top-to-bottom run, Nitro team rider Marc Swoboda (AUT) shows what is currently possible in the Glacier Park.
The Glacier Park on the glacier plateau of Kitzsteinhorn, Zell am See-Kaprun, Austria, has grown successively in recent weeks and currently offers a versatile set-up with nine rails, nine tubes, two boxes and three kickers (3 to 8 m) as well as specials such as Spine Wall, Street Barriers, Tanks or Quarterpipe. In the coming weeks and months, the snow park facilities at Kitzsteinhorn will be successively extended. Glacier Park is open until early January to ensure a smooth transition to the opening of Central Park. Easy Park is expected to open at the end of December, Central Park in January 2019, and the new South Central Park in February.
Superpipe open for everyone from December
The Superpipe will be open to the public from 4 December when the Superpipe Training Weeks are over. The 150-metre-long and 6.5-metre-high halfpipe is maintained throughout the winter by Alli Zehetner, one of the world’s leading pipe specialists, who built the halfpipe for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games. The 2-time world champion, X-Games winner and Olympic bronze medallist 2018, Scotty James (AUS), Olympic fifth 2014, David Habluetzel (SUI), and Andre Hoeflich (GER) are among the professionals who have fine-tuned their skills for the contest season here in recent weeks.
