More Italian resorts closing due to coronavirus outbreak
Val Gardena and the entire Dolomites area and Bardonecchia will close for Skiing for the season after Tuesday
More Italian resorts have today announced they are to close for the season from tomorrow. Val Gardena and the entire Dolomites will close for Skiing after Tuesday, and Bardonecchia have also just announced it will close tomorrow.
A message on Val Gardenas Facebook page reads
Dear Val Gardena Friends,
To protect the health of our guests, employees and families, and following the sense of responsability, the municipalities, business unions and associations of Val Gardena have jointly decided to end the ski season early.
Tomorrow, Tuesday 10 March will be the last day of skiing.We are confident that all of us, together will overcome this health crisis and thank you for the wonderful skiing days that this winter has brought us.
This follows Sundays annoucement that Livigno and the Aosta Valley resors are also closing.
Some resorts which border neighbouring countries such as Cervino which borders Switzerland and is linked to Zermatt will also close, however Zermatt itself has no current plans to close.
Sestriere and Sauze d'Oulx which border France as part of the Milky Way area are still open.
