Northern Italian resorts closing due to coronavirus lockdown
In order to try and contain the spread of coronavirus, Italy has quarantined Lombardy and 14 other central and northern provinces, meaning the immediate closure of resorts like Livigno until April 3rd
On Sunday morning, the Italian government has made the difficult decision to quarantine Lombardy and 14 other central and northern provinces, affecting 16million people, a measure that will stay in place until the 3rd April.
The full llist of provinces include Modena, Parma, Piacenza, Reggio Emilia, Rimini, Pesaro and Urbino, Alessandria, Asti, Novara, Verbano Cusio Ossola, Vercelli, Padua, Treviso and Venice.
This means that from immediate effect all ski resorts, swimming pools, gyms, cinemas will be closed and there will be no movement in or out of these areas, or within them, unless for proven, work-related reasons emergencies or health reasons.
The most well known resort to be affected Livigno, this morning put a message on their facebook page
We inform you that following the new decree, in Livigno, as in the rest of Lombardy, restrictive measures have been adopted until April 3, 2020.
GUESTS THAT ARE NOW IN LIVIGNO ARE INVITED TO RETURN BACK TO THEIR HOME.

> avoid any movement into and out of the territory, except for urgent work needs or for health reasons.
> people with symptoms of respiratory infection and fever are strongly recommended to remain at home by limiting contact with other people. > Ski lifts are closed
> restaurant and bar activities are allowed only from 6:00 to 18:00, with an obligation on the owners to guarantee the possibility of respecting the interpersonal safety distance of at least one meter, with the penalty of suspension of activity in case of violation.
> commercial activities other than those of the previous point are allowed on condition that the manager guarantees access in a quota-based manner or in any case suitable for avoiding gatherings of people, guaranteeing the possibility of respecting the distance of at least one meter. The sanction of the suspension of the activity is foreseen in case of violation of the indicated rules.
> kindergartens, schools and universities are suspended until April 3
> Museums and Libraries are closed
> civil and religious ceremonies, including funeral ceremonies, are suspended
> all activities are suspended within cinemas, theaters, pubs, game rooms, discos and similar places
> medium and large shops are closed on holidays days. The closure is not available for pharmacies, parapharmacies and food shops. The owners are always called to ensure compliance with the safety distance of one meter.

It is not clear at the moment what the situation is regarding tourists who arrived in the affected ski resorts on Saturday,whether they will be allowed to return to their homes.
