Val Gardena offers flexible cancellation terms on ski holidays for 2020/21
The Italian ski resort of Val Gardena in the UNESCO World Heritage Site, has flexible cancellation terms and stringent safety measures in place ready for the upcoming winter season.
In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, the three villages of Ortisei, Selva di Gardena and S. Cristina which make up this glorious part of the Dolomites have developed policies to reassure and safeguard visitors.
‘In the spring, the entire population and all the hosts in Val Gardena made all the necessary preparations for hygiene and safety measures with passion and dedication,‘ said Christina Demetz from Val Gardena Marketing.
‘The aim was always to protect the health of our guests and the locals in the best possible way.
‘The summer is now almost over and we are happy to announce that the security measures were effective and no case of infection has occurred, despite the many tourists who have spent their holidays in our valley.
‘This positive experience serves as an important basis for us to compile an all-round carefree package of measures tailored to the winter.’
Flexible cancellation terms cover changes in national travel restrictions; reimbursement for pre-booked ski rental and ski school if cancelled up to 48 hours before arrival due to a positive C-19 test; and many hotels have new and individual cancellation terms (check direct with hotels).
The extra safety measures in place include daily disinfecting of cable cars and toilets; protective dividers between clients and vendors; table service in mountain restaurants; reduced numbers in group activities; Covid test centres; all staff trained in Covid measures; staff wear masks covering mouth and nose, have daily temperature checks and regular testing.
The Val Gardena/Alpe di Siusi winter season of skiing, snowboarding, winter hikes and other snowsports opens on December 5. An adult skipass covering 79 skilifts accessing 175 km of piste is from 241 euros.
It makes up part of the extensive Dolomiti Superski area with its 1200 km of pisted runs, 30 snowparks and 450 skilifts across 12 ski areas, including the famous Sella Ronda ski circuit, which is a fabulous 42 km ski tour. An adult 6-day Dolomiti Superskipass is from 259 euros.
