Much better than it looks

A look at the piste map didn't excite me much, but we were staying in Innsbruck so it was only 20 mins to drive there. First impressions have to be the volume of local kids on boards, all of them depressingly cool & so skilled it looks like they're taking the p***. They must know something is good here. The good thing about a small resort is that you're forced to search out the good terrain, and a decent handful of off piste and powder fields is within easy reach of the few lifts. The mental furnicular railway that looks like a routemaster bus has to be ridden, and the top station has a restaurant right out of 'Grand designs'. It must have been good because by the time we did our last run, the slopes were deserted, and all the lifts had closed down, awesome. Not for a whole week, but very worthy of a visit.

Learnt to board here this year, excellent little resort. stayed in village of Birgitz, very quiet just a couple of pubs down the road, but close to the slopes, with a bus stop outside the door, which is free. Awesome views from top resturant. A really good blue run, which at times you wonder why its not a red!!

A great resort that will appeal to freestylers and intermediate freeriders spoilt only by the weekends queues. Some might find a full week stay to long
