The chances are that if you know Austria, you'll know about Kitzbuhel, famed for the Hahnenkamm (a World Cup ski downhill course), and noted for ski-package tour groups. Kitzbuhel is Austria's Benidorm, due to the hoards of skiers cluttering up the slopes and making fools of themselves in the bars and around town. A shame really, for apart from the fact that it is a low-level resort, which doesn't guarantee snow cover on the bottom runs, it is a cool place to ride. Still, when the snow has dumped, no rider should get bored as there are many slopes of all levels and lots of off piste.
With the new additions of the high speed 3S gondola linking Pengelstein to Jochberg and another lift linking Pass Thurn and Mittersil there is now a long 'Safari' tour you can take.
